Be the YOU in YOURS
At the YOURS Annual Celebration on Thursday, November 17th, Pastor Jim Wood from First Presbyterian Church asked us to think about the six most important people in our lives. Some of us thought of children, parents, and grandchildren. Pastor Wood explained that Jesus had a different answer in Matthew 25. Jesus spoke about the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the one with no clothes, the sick, and the one in prison.
So how do we live our lives? It's not about what we do, it's about being... being in relationship, being compassionate to serve. Giving Tuesday for YOURS is how can you bring your talents, skills, resources, and time to an organization designed to meet the needs of our youth in Norfolk. There are many opportunities available from serving on the Board, teaching and working with computers, driving the van, mentoring, and/or providing financial support for youth to travel to Lancaster, Pennsylvania for a weekend retreat in December.
Matthew 25:40 "And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!' This Giving Tuesday, let's stop what we're doing and start being the YOU in YOURS.
