OUR YOUTH ADVOCATE AT STATE CAPITOL

The Virginia Center for Public Safety held their 32nd Annual Vigil and Advocacy Day to Prevent Gun Violence on January 15th at the Virginia State Capitol. YOURS youth and leaders were a part of this effort and were highlighted in the New Journal and Guide (January 25th Edition).

This event afforded our youth an opportunity to talk to other youth and state legislators about issues facing families. The youth also discussed how they can work to make a positive change in their community.

Shown with YOURS leaders and youth is Delegate Jackie Glass of Norfolk's 93rd District. We were appreciative of the time she took talking with our youth and giving them insight on how to get their concerns to the right audience.

This was held on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Day in honoring his teachings and service. The vigil was also a time to remember the lives taken by gun violence.
